Izzy joined Social Life in August 2021 and holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from UCL. Her doctoral research, based on ethnographic fieldwork with the Barbican Centre in London, showed how cultural inequalities are maintained through space, language, and ritual. She is interested in the application of traditional anthropology to urban environments, and takes a value-based approach to understanding social cohesion and change.
Alongside her research Izzy is a qualified mental health support worker, with experience in DBT group facilitation and community mediation. She is especially invested in local responses to structural inequality and is involved with several grassroots projects relating to housing and food justice.
Izzy plays piano and did her first degree in music and literature.
