Like many of you, we are preparing our response to the revised National Planning Policy Framework. Our focus is on the social dimensions and whether the new proposals will safeguard social sustainabilituy.
The revised NPPF continues to recognise social objectives as fundamental, however its current framing is largely focused on static outcomes and physical provision such as number of homes, well-designed and safe places, and accessible facilities. It fails to define what this would look like in practice, how planning can accommodate for community needs and create liveable places that support long-term community resilience and wellbeing.
Our roundtable discussion will explore whether the current framing of social objectives strong enough to achieve social sustainability. Please join us and share your views!
