Social Life is working with the Centre for the New Midlands to develop a Decent Neighbourhood Standard.
This applies the underlying principles and core themes of the Decent Homes Standard to neighbourhoods. Our ambition is to create a universal but adaptable standard that can be applied to new and existing neighbourhoods and communities. This will help to identify local priorities, guide policy and strategic investment, and support community empowerment.
Our first demonstrator project has been with Witton Lodge Community Association in Birmingham.
While we have a nationally recognised standard for decent homes, there is no comparable benchmark for the quality of the places around them. This project seeks to address that gap, to address place-basedsocial inequalities and build on the assets of our neighbourhoods and communities.
